Zinc Plating is one of the most commonly used finishes for the protective coating of Nuts,Bolts,Washers,Engineering parts etc,it is a inexpensive sacrificial protective coating against atmospheric corrosion of iron and steel parts.It is also given a conversation coating to further help against corrosion, this is called Passivation with Clear and Yellow passivation being the most popular of finishes.
